2010 Swim Season

It’s time to get ready for another great swim season at Mallory. 2009 was a good season for Mallory earning a 3^rd place trophy for the GPSA Blue Division!! We will continue in the GPSA Blue Division this year where we can be competitive.  This year will once again be filled with fun, friendship, sportsmanship, and success for all our swimmers. 

Here’s some general information for our swimmers and their families:

·         This year the fee for swimmers will be - $55 per swimmer.  This fee will help cover the coaches’ salaries, home swim meet food items, ribbons, trophies, banquet, and activities.  The fee has increased but families will no longer need to bring food/drink items to the home meets!

·         A new cap will be given to each swimmer only after the swimmer’s fees are paid.

·         The Mallory Swim Team Supporters will not fundraisers to supplement the money from fees but we do ask you to support the pool in POOL WIDE FUNDRAISERs!!

·         The team suit is a new suit for 2010 – Speedo Cyber Swirl – gold/yellow.  It will be used for the 2010 & 2011 seasons. It is available at a team discount at Swim and Sport Stop on Warwick Blvd, 757-874-7946, Ask for Maureen.

Ø  Male Jammer-$34.00, Female $54.00.  These prices do not include tax. (Male racer suits are available)

·         Swim practice begins June 1^st 6:00pm. Parents meeting at first practice. Afternoon practices are planned for Mon – Th 6:00-7:30pm and Saturday Morning practice from 9:00-11:00am.

·         Swim team registration may be done Mallory Pool Open House on May 22^nd or any practice.

·         The swim meet schedule for 2010 is as follows: (this is subject to change)

·         Mon June 28 Beechwood @ MAL

·         Thur July 1 LSST @ MAL

·         Mon July 5 NO MEETS

·         Thur  July 8 Northampton @ MAL

·         Mon July 12 Make up Meet if needed

·         Thur July 15 MAL @ Briar Queen

·         Sat July 17 TEAM PICS 9am (Rain Date Tues July 20^th at 530pm)

·         Mon July 19 Riverdale @ MAL

·         Sat July 24  Mini Meet

·         Mon July 26 MAL @ Beaconsdale

·         GPSA MEET Sat August 7^th   

·         Team Banquet Saturday Aug 7^th   

·         WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR ALL SWIM MEETS!!  This year each swim family will be evenly assigned to fill volunteer roles at home and away meets.  You may sign up before we do assignments.  Please see Cindy, Lora or Lisa.

Note:

For the 2010 season swim meet volunteers should go to a clinic given by the GPSA. This includes lane judges, stroke and turn officials, referee, and starter. Please contact Lisa Sawyer for more detailed information.

1^st Clinic & Coaches Meeting MARLBANK JUNE 12^th @9am,

2^nd Clinic POQUOSON June 16^th 6:30pm. 

We need more stroke and turn officials!!  We also need volunteers to train as back-ups for the following positions: Starter, Referee, GPSA Rep.  These positions must be filled at every meet and we do not have back-ups if someone is on vacation or otherwise absent.
